Stand up against poverty, Stand up against the millennium development goals by BAYR and YPWC, Bangladesh
On 17 October, 2007 a stand up event was hosted
in Bangladesh by Bangladesh Association of Young Researcher (BAYR) and Young
People We Care (YPWC) Bangladesh office. The organizer called the event as
Door to Door Stand Up Event. They think this kind of is first time in world
as they went to house to house, shop to shop and invited people to Stand Up
against poverty and Stand Up for the millennium development goals. Unbelievable
supports was received by the participant. BAYR and YPWC did not get any
financial
or other supports from any institutions or organizations to host this event.
As emergency state is going on in Bangladesh banners, festoon and public
meeting is strictly prohibited . But the organizer took another policy to
overcome this problem. They printout their logo and give it to the participant.
Organizer with some enthusiastic volunteers went to door to door to inform about
the stand up event and requested to stand up in support of these.

Youth Action Ambassador Young People We Care (YPWC) was the convener of the
event. Musleh Uddin Sadi worked as Joint Convener of the event.
The organizing team visited about 50 house, over 25 shops, 315 people which
includes house wives, shop owner, mobile phone businessman, university students,
School and college students, rickshaw puller, taxi driver, barber,
attended the Stand Up event.
